Today, I was driving down a road I’ve driven almost everyday, but it looked different this time. The seasons are starting to change again, the heat is on in the car, it’s raining, it’s darker out. Although it’s technically gloomy, I’m filled with joy. It’s as though my perspective had changed and it reminded me of what it was like to be a kid. The world always looked so different, exciting, and especially filled with wonder and joy as the seasons changed.

On days like today, I’m reminded of the ebb and flow of life. Nothing really stays the same, but we can count on the seasons arriving each year. I happen to live in an area where the seasons are apparent each year, but even in areas where the physical surroundings don’t change, even then you can count on changes throughout the year. This time of year, we’re approaching the holidays and as that transition approaches, I can already feel the buzz of energy around me.

It is encouraging to remember that even though life is constantly changing, there are other constants in the world around us too. This was especially helpful to remember during this pandemic we’ve all been living through. What’s even more constant than the world around us and the seasons, is our Heavenly Father and His continued love for us each and every minute of every day.

As His Word tells us in Genesis 8:22 – “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease”.

We can be assured by God’s promises that as long as we are still breathing here on this earth, there is always something to look forward to. God will always be with us, just like it says in James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like the shifting shadows.”

As life continues, we are reminded that there is a season for everything. I have to admit, it can be hard to hold onto these promises as we go through these changes. I have been challenged many times and it has helped me tremendously to remember God’s promises and to hold onto hope by remembering what it says in Ecclesiastes 3:1-4

“There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven; a time to give birth and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot; a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to tear down and a time to build; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance.”

Especially while going through this journey toward motherhood that I’m on, these words from the Lord are so encouraging. Everything has it’s time and it’s all in God’s perfect timing. It’s important that despite life’s changes, our faith should not change because we can remain steadfast that God is always in control. For like Psalm 1:3 says “He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”

John 16:33 says ” I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. You will have suffering in this world. Be courageous! I have conquered the world.”

Amen, Amen, Amen! I can promise you that even though I’m the one writing this, that this word is 10000% for me. We all need constant reminders of God’s goodness, presence in our lives, and constant nature.

I pray that God reveals himself to you and that through His presence and His Word, you will have peace, love, joy, and all the good feels especially this time of year as the holidays are again approaching.
